FG and UAE Sign MoU for Cargo Information System
Abuja, Nigeria – September 24, 2025
In a significant move to transform Nigeria’s aviation and logistics sector, the Federal Government of Nigeria has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with DALIL United Arab Emirates (UAE) to deploy an Advanced Cargo Information (ACI) system across airports in the country.
The agreement, signed in Abuja, is aimed at repositioning Nigeria as a leading aviation and logistics hub in Africa by enhancing cargo security, streamlining operations, and facilitating international trade.
Speaking at the official signing ceremony, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, who signed on behalf of the Federal Government, stated that the ACI system will revolutionize cargo handling in Nigerian airports.
“This initiative is a major step toward strengthening aviation security and streamlining cargo processing across the country. It will support international trade facilitation and ultimately boost Nigeria’s position as a regional logistics hub,” Keyamo said.
According to the Minister, implementation will begin with feasibility studies in October 2025, followed by a full nationwide rollout scheduled for the third quarter of 2026.
Keyamo further highlighted that the partnership with DALIL UAE reflects Nigeria’s commitment to building a more resilient, efficient, and competitive aviation sector. He noted that by leveraging cutting-edge technologies and global best practices, the ACI system will play a vital role in enhancing trade facilitation, increasing revenue generation, and reducing bottlenecks in cargo processing.
The ACI platform is expected to offer real-time tracking, pre-arrival cargo information, and improved coordination among customs, freight forwarders, and other stakeholders within the supply chain.
With this partnership, Nigeria moves closer to its goal of becoming a modern logistics gateway for West and Central Africa.
