FG Resolves PENGASSAN & Dangote Dispute

After a crucial reconciliation meeting, the Federal Government has successfully brokered peace in the industrial dispute between Dangote Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).


In a statement released in the early hours of Wednesday, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, disclosed that following lengthy discussions, an agreement was reached with the following resolutions: unionization remains a fundamental right of Nigerian workers; the management of Dangote Group will immediately commence the process of transferring disengaged staff to other companies within the Dangote Group without any loss of pay; and no worker will face victimization due to their involvement in the dispute.


All parties involved in the conflict have agreed to the demands and the terms set forth.
The high-level government delegation at the meeting included National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Labour and Employment Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Abubakar Atiku Bagudu; Minister of State for Labour and Employment Nkeiruka Onyejeocha; Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) Adeola Ajayi; and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.


Meanwhile, PENGASSAN has scheduled a press briefing at 11 a.m. to announce the outcome of the engagement to the public.
This resolution marks a significant step toward restoring industrial harmony and ensuring workers’ rights within one of Nigeria’s largest industrial complexes.
