Ijebu, Ogun State – Grassroots politician and public affairs analyst, Keshiro Sulayman Oluwasesan (KSO), has urged political leaders and stakeholders in Ijebuland to unite and embrace visionary leadership as the 2027 general elections approach.

In a statement released to the press, KSO expressed deep concern over what he described as the stagnation of Ijebuland despite its vast human and natural resources. He argued that the absence of socio-economic advancement and industrial transformation in the region stems from poor leadership and internal political rivalries.
Reviewing the 2023 general election results in Ogun East, KSO noted that while the All Progressives Congress (APC) performed strongly in the presidential and national assembly elections, the governorship and state assembly results revealed significant weaknesses, with Ijebu-Ode being the only local government where APC secured victory. He attributed this to the neglect of loyal grassroots members who, despite working tirelessly for the party, remain unrewarded.
KSO contrasted Ijebuland’s situation with that of Remoland, highlighting Remo’s infrastructural and economic gains, including the Gateway International Cargo Airport, Free Trade Zone, and other federal and state projects. He stressed that while Remoland, with only three local government areas, continues to attract development, Ijebuland’s six local government areas are yet to achieve similar progress.
Calling for sober reflection and a shift in political strategy, KSO emphasized the importance of prioritizing qualified, dedicated, and patriotic leaders over selfish interests. He maintained that both the Ogun East senatorial seat and the state governorship are long overdue for Ijebu sons and daughters, and must be pursued collectively in 2027.
He further commended the contributions of notable Ijebu leaders such as Senator Adegbenka Sefiu Kaka, Senator AbdulRahman Olamilekan Mustapha, and Hon. AbdulRahman OlaDapo Okubadejo, praising their patriotism and service to the region.
“The Ijebu people remain a dominant force in politics, business, and other fields of human endeavor. But unless we put aside selfishness and internal rivalries, our true potential will remain unrealized,” KSO declared.
The statement concluded with a call for unity, objectivity, and purposeful leadership, urging Ijebu leaders to focus on collective advancement rather than personal gains as the countdown to 2027 begins.
