The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has officially launched the African Centre of Excellence (ACE) Alliance, a landmark initiative designed to strengthen research capacity, innovation, health information and communication technology (ICT), and regional collaboration across higher education institutions in Africa.

Speaking at the launch ceremony in Abuja, Dr. Alausa described the ACE Alliance as a transformative project that aligns with the Federal Government’s commitment to advancing quality education, promoting knowledge-driven development, and fostering partnerships among African universities.

He noted that the initiative would enhance institutional research capabilities, promote cutting-edge scientific discoveries, and facilitate the sharing of resources and expertise across borders. The Minister emphasized that the ACE Alliance is part of Nigeria’s broader strategy to position African universities as centers of innovation capable of addressing regional challenges in health, science, technology, and sustainable development.

Dr. Alausa commended partner institutions and development agencies supporting the project, noting that their collaboration would accelerate progress toward achieving the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

He further urged universities to leverage the ACE Alliance to strengthen academic linkages, promote joint research programs, and enhance digital learning infrastructure for the benefit of students and researchers across the continent.
The launch of the ACE Alliance marks a significant milestone in the Federal Government’s efforts to deepen regional integration in higher education and harness Africa’s collective potential for innovation and sustainable growth.
