#AnambraDecides2025 elections, a 73-year-old resident, Mr. Chukwuemeka Ifedigbo, from Ezeagha Ward 3, Nnewi North Local Government Area, has expressed deep frustration over his inability to cast his vote due to issues with his voter identification.

As voting continues across Anambra State in the ongoing
Mr. Ifedigbo, who spoke to reporters at his polling unit, lamented that he was denied the opportunity to vote because he misplaced his Permanent Voter Card (PVC) and only had a temporary voter slip. Electoral officials at the unit reportedly informed him that only those with valid PVCs would be allowed to vote, in line with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines.

“I have always voted in every election since 1979. It pains me that at this age, I can’t perform my civic duty because I lost my PVC,” Mr. Ifedigbo said, visibly disappointed. “I went to the INEC office before now to see if I could retrieve it, but they said reissuance had closed.”
Observers at the polling unit described the situation as unfortunate, emphasizing the need for INEC to create more flexible systems for elderly citizens and those who lose their cards before elections.

The #AnambraDecides2025 election has seen impressive voter turnout in many parts of the state, though reports of logistical challenges and voter verification issues have also surfaced in a few polling units.
Despite his disappointment, Mr. Ifedigbo urged fellow citizens to remain peaceful and exercise their right to vote, describing participation in elections as “the only way to shape the future of our children and state.”
