SENATE CONFIRMS APPOINTEES FOR PENCOM
Abuja, Nigeria – November 11, 2025
The Senate has confirmed the appointment of the Chairman and Commissioners of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) as nominated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Following the presentation of the nominees for legislative approval, the Senate gave its endorsement after considering the report of its Committee on Establishment and Public Service.
Those confirmed include Agbaje Opeyemi Olukayode, representing the South West, who will serve as Chairman of PENCOM. Others are Hafiz Muhammad Kawu Ibrahim, representing the North West, who was confirmed as Commissioner (Technical).
Also confirmed are Samuel Chigizie Uwandu, representing the South East, as Commissioner (Inspectorate); Charles Efe Sylvester Emukowhate, representing the South South, as Commissioner (Finance and Administration); and Bello Abubakar Malabu, representing the North East, as Commissioner (Corporate Services).
The confirmation brings to a close the screening process initiated by the Senate following President Tinubu’s request for legislative approval of the nominees.
The newly confirmed appointees are expected to strengthen the operations of PENCOM and ensure improved oversight of Nigeria’s pension industry.
