COAS IN KEBBI, ORDERS TROOPS TO INTENSIFY RESCUE OF ABDUCTED SCHOOL GIRLS
Kebbi State, 17 November 2025
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has ordered troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to intensify efforts toward the immediate rescue of students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The directive came on Monday, 17 November 2025, during his operational visit to the state.
Addressing frontline commanders and troops, Gen. Shaibu charged them to heighten intelligence-driven operations and sustain a relentless, round-the-clock pursuit of the perpetrators. “We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional,” he declared.
During the visit, the COAS also met with local vigilantes and hunters, describing them as indispensable partners in the rescue efforts. He urged them to apply their deep understanding of the terrain in close collaboration with the military to track down and neutralize criminal elements. “Together, we will restore peace and ensure children can attend school safely,” he affirmed.
Earlier in the day, Gen. Shaibu paid a condolence visit to the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and the Principal of GGCSS Maga, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji. He assured them of the military’s unwavering commitment to rescuing the abducted schoolgirls unharmed and returning them safely to their families.
The COAS further encouraged troops to remain resilient, disciplined, and professional, stressing adherence to the rules of engagement while maintaining high responsiveness and determination in restoring peace to Kebbi State and its neighbouring communities.
