Hon. Leke Abejide, the member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has dismissed reports of his expulsion from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting that those who announced the action lack the legitimate authority to do so.

Speaking during an interview on NTA’s Political Update, Abejide asserted that the party is currently grappling with a leadership crisis. According to him, certain individuals have been “illegally parading themselves as leaders of the ADC” despite having no valid convention or constitutional backing to claim such positions.
He emphasized that any disciplinary action or pronouncement emanating from such a faction holds no weight.

“I do not recognize my purported expulsion because those claiming to expel me are not the authentic leaders of the ADC,” he stated firmly during the broadcast.
Abejide further explained that the ADC’s constitution outlines clear procedures for electing and recognizing party leadership, including the requirement of a national convention. He said none of these processes had been followed by the group making the announcement.

The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to his constituents and to due process within the party structure, stressing that internal disputes should be resolved legally and transparently.
As the leadership tussle continues, stakeholders and observers are watching closely to see how the party will navigate the latest controversy.
