NPF Clarifies Position on Tinted Glass Permit Enforcement

Abuja, Dec. 17, 2025

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has dismissed claims that it is restrained by a court order from enforcing the tinted glass permit policy, insisting that the enforcement remains lawful and necessary in the interest of public safety.
Speaking during a briefing at the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) office in Abuja, the Force Public Relations Officer clarified that no court at any time barred the police from enforcing the tinted glass permit regulation. He explained that the court order currently being circulated in the public domain had been widely misinterpreted.

According to him, the injunction merely directed all parties to maintain the status quo and did not in any way suspend or prohibit the ongoing enforcement of the policy by the police.
“As it stands, the Nigeria Police Force is acting within the confines of the law. The court did not stop enforcement, and the tinted glass permit policy remains in force,” he said.
As part of the briefing, the NPF also paraded exhibits recovered from various criminal operations carried out across the country. The Force disclosed that seven major cases were successfully concluded, leading to the arrest of nine suspects linked to offences including armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, and drug-related crimes.

Items recovered from the suspects include two AK-47 rifles, three pump-action rifles, two single-barrel guns, two Beretta pistols, four locally fabricated revolvers, six live cartridges, four magazines, and thirty-five rounds of live ammunition, among other exhibits.

The Force Public Relations Officer further assured Nigerians that comprehensive security measures have been put in place ahead of the forthcoming festive season. He said increased patrols, enhanced surveillance, and the deployment of rapid response units across major cities and highways would help prevent any breakdown of law and order.

The NPF reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public safety and urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement officers in the collective effort to ensure a peaceful and secure festive period.
