Akpabio Grants Automatic Employment to Sons of Deceased Police Aide
Abuja, Nigeria – Tuesday
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has approved automatic employment for the two sons of his police aide, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hussani Ibrahim, who died in a road accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway on Sunday.
Akpabio made the announcement on Tuesday during plenary while formally informing his colleagues in the Senate of the tragic incident. The late DSP Ibrahim served as the Senate President’s rider and was described as a dedicated and committed officer. He has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
Expressing deep sorrow over the loss, the Senate President extended his condolences to the bereaved family, the Inspector General of Police, and officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force. He noted that the offer of automatic employment for the deceased officer’s sons was a personal gesture aimed at supporting the family and honouring the service and sacrifice of the late DSP Ibrahim.
In a related development, the Senate also paid tribute to Alhaji Ibrahim Tukur, who recently passed away. Tukur served for 25 years as a driver to the Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho, and was remembered for his loyalty and dedication.
The Senate, during plenary, observed a minute of silence in honour of the deceased and offered prayers for the repose of their souls, asking Almighty God to grant their families the fortitude to bear the losses.
