OSGF Assures Full Digitization of Documents, Processes
Abuja, December 24, 2025
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has reaffirmed the commitment of his Office to the full digitization of records and administrative processes as part of efforts to strengthen digital governance, enhance efficiency, and promote transparency in public service delivery.
Senator Akume gave the assurance at the flag-off ceremony of the 1-Government (1 Gov) Cloud Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS), performed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, in Abuja. He explained that the initiative aligns with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSIP 2025), which prioritizes the modernization of government operations through technology-driven solutions.
According to the SGF, as the coordinating hub of government policies and programmes, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation requires a robust, secure, and integrated platform to manage official records, workflows, and inter-ministerial communications. He noted that the ECMS would significantly improve timeliness, accuracy, and evidence-based decision-making across government.
“The implementation of the ECMS will ensure that our processes are more efficient, transparent, and accountable, while also supporting seamless collaboration among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies,” Senator Akume said.
While flagging off the system, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, commended the SGF and his management team for embracing digital transformation by adopting the ECMS. She stressed that for an Office responsible for coordinating Federal Executive Council (FEC) business and maintaining constant engagement with MDAs, paper-based processes are no longer adequate to meet the demands of speed, accuracy, and efficiency required in today’s governance environment.
Mrs. Walson-Jack explained that the introduction of the ECMS across the Federal Civil Service would ensure that records are secure, easy to track, and readily accessible when needed, thereby supporting smoother workflows and better-informed decisions. She added that deploying the system on the One Gov Cloud platform would fundamentally transform how work is done by enabling electronic approvals, automating processes, and enhancing overall institutional performance.
The ECMS initiative is expected to mark a significant milestone in the ongoing reform of the Federal Civil Service, reinforcing accountability and positioning government institutions to deliver services more effectively in the digital age.
