Chief of Staff Gbajabiamila Not Replaced by Muri-Okunola — Presidency
Abuja — December 26, 2025
The Presidency has firmly dismissed reports claiming that the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has been replaced.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency described the reports circulating on social media as false, misleading, and entirely unfounded. The statement clarified that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not replaced his Chief of Staff with the Principal Private Secretary, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
“There is absolutely no truth to this story. We advise Nigerians to disregard it entirely,” the statement read.
According to the Presidency, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila remains the Chief of Staff to the President, while Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola continues to serve in his role as Principal Private Secretary. At no time was any change made to these positions, contrary to the viral claims.
The statement further described the report as a fabrication by mischievous purveyors of fake news whose intention is to create confusion and disharmony within the government.
The Presidency reiterated the importance of responsible journalism, urging media organizations and social media users to always verify information from credible sources before publishing or sharing, especially on sensitive matters concerning the presidency and governance.
It reassured Nigerians that the administration remains focused on delivering its mandate and will not be distracted by unfounded rumors and false narratives.
