Alleged Terrorism Financing: EFCC Arraigns Bauchi Commissioner, Three Others for $9.7m
Abuja | January 2, 2026
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the remand of the Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance, Yakubu Adamu, and three other defendants at the Kuje Correctional Centre, pending the determination of their bail application.
Justice Emeka Nwite gave the order on Thursday following the arraignment of the four defendants by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Those arraigned alongside the commissioner are Balarabe Abdullahi Ilelah, Aminu Mohammed Bose, and Kabiru Yahaya Mohammed. They are facing a ten-count charge bordering on conspiracy, conversion of public funds, and alleged terrorism financing involving over 9.7 million dollars.
At the arraignment, the defendants pleaded not guilty to all the charges preferred against them.
Following their plea, counsel to the defendants moved a motion seeking bail on their behalf. However, the prosecution counsel opposed the application, urging the court to refuse bail due to the gravity of the charges.
After listening to arguments from both parties, Justice Nwite ordered that the defendants be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre and adjourned the matter to January 5, 2026, for ruling on the bail application.
The case is expected to continue as the court considers the submissions of both the prosecution and the defence.
