Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Rescue Six Kidnap Victims in Kajuru

Kajuru, Kaduna State – 6 January 2026

Troops of Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) have recorded another significant operational success with the rescue of six kidnapped victims in the Kajuru/Kujama general area of Kaduna State.
The rescue operation was carried out on 5 January 2026 as part of a wider, coordinated series of clearance and offensive operations conducted simultaneously across multiple axes within Chikun, Kajuru, Kachia, and Kagarko Local Government Areas, including the fringes of border communities around Kauru.

These operations were deliberately designed to further constrict and degrade the freedom of action of violent extremist elements operating within the Joint Operations Area (JOA), and by extension, the wider Sector 1 OPFY JOA.

The successful rescue followed a distress alert on the activities of violent extremists around the Kasso adjoining hills. Troops of Sub-Sector 5, who were already engaged in clearance operations in the Kujeni general area, swiftly mobilised to the location. Upon arrival, the troops made contact with the criminals and engaged them with effective suppressive fire, forcing the terrorists to flee in disarray into the surrounding forest.

Exploiting the area immediately after the encounter, the gallant troops successfully rescued six kidnapped victims. The victims were safely handed over to representatives of Kajuru Local Government Area and the Kajuru Emirate Council for onward reunification with their families.

Commending the troops for their bravery and professionalism, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase, charged them to remain on maximum alert and to continue sustaining aggressive operational tempo to deny criminal elements any freedom of action within the Joint Operations Area.
