SUSPECTED BANDITS ATTACK OYO STATE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE OFFICE, FIVE FOREST GUARDS KILLED

No fewer than five forest guards attached to the National Park Service office in Oloka, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, have been reportedly killed following an attack by suspected bandits on Tuesday.
The assailants were said to have stormed the park in the early hours of the day, unleashing violence on personnel stationed at the facility. Details surrounding the circumstances of the attack are still sketchy as investigations continue.
Confirming the incident to NTA News via a telephone conversation, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed that the State Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, alongside other security service chiefs, is on the way to the affected area to assess the situation firsthand.
DSP Olayinka further revealed that the Commissioner of Police has ordered the immediate deployment of tactical teams, officers of the Mobile Police Force, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit of the Nigeria Police Force to the area to restore order and prevent further attacks.
He assured residents and members of the public that security agencies are fully on top of the situation and are working collaboratively to ensure the safety of lives and property.
The police spokesperson promised that further updates would be made available as more details emerge from ongoing security operations and investigations into the incident.
