POLICE CRACK “ONE-CHANCE” DEATH SYNDICATE, NAB THREE OVER LAWYER’S KILLING

Abuja, FCT | 11 January 2026

The Nigeria Police Force, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against violent crime with the arrest of three notorious “one-chance” armed robbery suspects linked to the gruesome murder of an Abuja-based legal practitioner, Barrister Princess Chigbo Nwamaka Mediatrix.

A statement by the Command disclosed that the arrests followed a directive by the Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Miller Dantawaye, who ordered an intensive manhunt for all individuals connected to the chilling crime and similar attacks across the Federal Capital Territory.

Operatives of the Command’s elite Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Ogbeide Godfrey, deployed advanced digital intelligence techniques to track the victim’s mobile phone. This effort culminated in coordinated raids across Dei-Dei, Dakwa and Dan-Tata communities in Kubwa, leading to the arrest of Saifullahi Yusuf (22), Ishau Yusuf (24)—both brothers—and Minka’ilu Jibril, also known as Dan-Hajia. The suspects, all natives of Kaduna State, were confirmed to be members of a notorious “one-chance” robbery syndicate operating within the FCT.

Preliminary investigations revealed that on 5 January 2026, Barrister Chigbo boarded the suspects’ black Volkswagen Golf 3 along the Kubwa Expressway, unsuspecting that she had entered a criminal trap. The suspects allegedly wound up the vehicle’s tinted windows, threatened her with weapons and demanded ransom. When she resisted, she was reportedly brutally assaulted and pushed out of the moving vehicle, an act that led to her tragic death.
The suspects reportedly confessed to selling the victim’s Android phone for ₦120,000, sharing the proceeds among themselves. Police also recovered weapons and restraints believed to have been used in carrying out their criminal activities.

As investigations continue and efforts are intensified to apprehend a fourth suspect still at large, CP Dantawaye commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication. He reassured residents of the FCT of the Command’s unwavering resolve to dismantle criminal syndicates and ensure the safety of lives and property.

Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant, avoid boarding suspicious vehicles, and promptly report emergencies or suspicious activities via 08032003913 or 07057337653.
