Abuja, 15 January 2026

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm birthday felicitations to the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, as the minister marked his birthday on Thursday, January 15.
In a congratulatory message, President Tinubu described Senator Kyari as a “consummate statesman and distinguished public servant” whose career has been marked by dedication to service, exemplary leadership, and a deep commitment to national development.

The president highlighted Kyari’s extensive political and administrative experience, recalling his service as a former member of the House of Representatives, a two-time senator, and his tenure as Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Reflecting on the minister’s early years in public service, President Tinubu noted Kyari’s role as a commissioner in Borno State, where he oversaw multiple ministries with what he described as “rare versatility, competence, and an unwavering commitment to the public good.”

Commending his performance in the Renewed Hope administration, the president credited Senator Kyari with bringing innovation and foresight to the agriculture sector, particularly through the promotion of mechanisation as a catalyst for increased productivity, food security, and economic resilience.
“You have brought innovation and foresight to the sector, championing mechanisation as a pathway to productivity, food security, and economic resilience,” President Tinubu stated.

The president further praised the minister’s reforms and policy initiatives, noting their impact in reducing food inflation, stabilising prices, strengthening agricultural value chains, and repositioning farming as a viable and profitable enterprise. He also commended Kyari for institutionalising programmes aimed at encouraging youth participation in agriculture, thereby nurturing a new generation that views farming as a sustainable and rewarding livelihood.
President Tinubu concluded by offering prayers for Senator Kyari’s continued good health, renewed strength, and the wisdom and courage to advance his vision of food sufficiency and agricultural prosperity for Nigeria.
