NITDA, NBC Explore Strategic Collaboration For Digital Transformation

Abuja, Nigeria — January 27, 2026

The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, has received his counterpart, the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Mr. Charles Ebuebu, to explore opportunities for strategic collaboration aimed at accelerating digital transformation and strengthening regulatory frameworks across Nigeria’s media and technology sectors.

The high-level engagement underscored the importance of inter-agency cooperation in responding to the rapid convergence of broadcasting, digital media, and emerging technologies. Both agencies discussed pathways to promote local media empowerment, facilitate structured knowledge transfer, enhance Nigeria’s cultural impact in the digital space, and establish forward-looking, innovation-friendly regulation.

During the discussions, NITDA proposed sharing its digital transformation playbook with NBC to support institutional modernization and operational efficiency. The Agency also offered to deliver tailored capacity-building programmes, enroll NBC personnel in NITDA’s digital literacy and skills initiatives, and provide expert technical support for the modernization of regulatory frameworks to keep pace with global best practices.

The collaboration is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s digital ecosystem by aligning technology policy with media regulation, fostering innovation, and ensuring that regulatory approaches remain adaptive in an increasingly digital-first environment.

Both Directors General reaffirmed their commitment to sustained collaboration that will advance national development objectives, empower local content creators, and position Nigeria’s media and technology sectors for global competitiveness.
