Abuja, March 9, 2026
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday hosted traditional rulers and religious leaders to an interfaith breaking of fast at the State House in Abuja.
Among dignitaries present at the event were the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Vice President Kashim Shettima; the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; the Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar; and the President of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Stephen Baba-Panya.
The gathering brought together leaders from different religious and traditional institutions as part of efforts to promote unity, peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding among Nigerians.
The interfaith event provided an opportunity for Muslim and Christian leaders, alongside traditional rulers, to reflect on the importance of tolerance, national unity and cooperation in addressing the country’s challenges.
Participants also used the occasion to offer prayers for peace, stability and progress in Nigeria, while encouraging citizens to strengthen bonds across religious and cultural divides.
The interfaith breaking of fast forms part of activities often organized during the fasting period to foster dialogue and harmony among various religious and traditional groups in the country.
