Int’l Women’s Day: Olukoyede Assures Female Officers of Enhanced Welfare

Abuja, Nigeria – March 11, 2026

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening welfare support for female officers of the Commission, pledging enhanced measures to ensure they are encouraged, empowered and adequately supported to effectively carry out their duties.

Olukoyede gave the assurance at a seminar held at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja to commemorate the International Women’s Day 2026.

He noted that while the EFCC prioritizes the health, safety and well-being of all personnel, the Commission places special emphasis on ensuring that female officers are emotionally and physically stable to discharge their responsibilities.

“This consideration led to the establishment of a crèche in our offices to reduce the stress of infant care for our nursing mothers. The need to enhance the dignity of our female staff was key for developing policies aimed at protecting them from any form of abuse or harassment,” he said.

In furtherance of this commitment, the EFCC chairman disclosed that the Commission has activated its Sexual Harassment and Bullying Policy and is determined to enforce it strictly.

Commending female officers of the Commission for their resilience and dedication to service, Olukoyede assured them that the management would continue to prioritize their welfare and maintain a supportive and conducive work environment.

“We will not relent in making the work environment more conducive and supportive for everyone. I also encourage our female staff to continue upholding the values and standards that define the Commission. I want to charge every one of you to seek better ways of adding value to the Commission through diligence, enhanced productivity, punctuality, self-development and loyalty to the mandate of the EFCC,” he added.

Also speaking at the event, Acting Director of EFCC’s Staff Welfare Services, Deputy Commander of the EFCC (DCE) Felicia Timothy, praised women for their roles as mothers, caregivers, innovators, policy drivers and change makers.

“Each one of us here has a unique story that contributes to a larger narrative of the strength and resilience of women,” she said.

Timothy also commended Olukoyede for appointing more women to leadership positions within the Commission, noting that the move has significantly empowered female officers.

“We thank the Chairman who has given women leadership positions beyond their expectations, and this gives women the chance to step into other roles. As we embark on this journey, let us not forget the importance of unity, community support and shared experiences that inspire us to prioritize our health, foster resilience and empower ourselves. Remember, empowering a woman means empowering the nation,” she stated.

The seminar featured three lectures focused on women’s well-being and professional development. These included “Prioritizing Female Staff Health while Serving the Nation,” delivered by Motunrayo Oyelohuno, a medical psychiatrist; “Creating Balance in a High-Pressure World,” presented by Toyin Ogunkanmi, a clinical psychologist; and “Building a Culture of Support and Excellence at the Workplace,” delivered by Nana Khadijah Iya.

The event formed part of activities by the EFCC to celebrate women within the Commission and reinforce its commitment to gender inclusion and staff welfare.
