COMMERCIAL WORTHY INVENTIONS SET TO BE ENERGISED NATIONWIDE

Abuja, Nigeria — March 13, 2026

Commercially viable inventions across Nigeria are set to receive a major boost following the unveiling of a national initiative aimed at accelerating the commercialisation of innovative ideas and technological solutions.

The programme was announced by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, who also unveiled the First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, as the Champion of the Energise Commercialisation Programme.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, is designed to identify promising inventions from research institutions, innovators and technology developers, and support their transition into commercially viable products and services.

According to the Minister, the Energise Commercialisation Programme will help bridge the gap between research and industry by providing innovators with the necessary support, including funding opportunities, partnerships and market access to scale their ideas.

By promoting the commercialisation of homegrown innovations, the programme aims to stimulate economic growth, encourage entrepreneurship and create employment opportunities for Nigerians.

The Minister noted that the endorsement of the initiative by the First Lady would help amplify national awareness and support for the programme, encouraging inventors, researchers and technology-driven enterprises across the country to participate.

The Energise Commercialisation Programme is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem and ensure that locally developed technologies contribute meaningfully to national development.
