The COAS noted that several Nigerian Army officers have already benefited from specialized training programmes in Egypt, which have significantly contributed to building professional competence within the force. He expressed readiness to expand these training opportunities further to equip personnel with the knowledge and skills required to respond to complex security threats.
Lieutenant General Shaibu also highlighted the importance of strengthening institutional linkages, including collaboration at the Nigerian Army War College, to deepen professional ties, promote knowledge exchange, and enhance joint capacity to counter emerging threats. He extended an invitation to the Egyptian Army to participate in the forthcoming Nigerian Army Day Celebration scheduled for July 2026.
The Army Chief further called for exploring additional areas of cooperation, particularly in aviation capabilities and operational support systems, noting that such collaboration would enhance operational readiness, technological innovation, and overall mission effectiveness.
In his remarks, Colonel Ibrahim stated that his visit was aimed at reviewing the implementation of the 2024 Memorandum of Understanding between the two militaries.
