The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) marked this year’s International Women’s Day with a celebration in Abuja, placing a strong emphasis on women’s leadership, inclusion, and decisive action.

The event was hosted by the Deputy Governor, Corporate Services, Emem Usoro, who delivered a clear and purposeful message on the need to accelerate progress toward gender equality and empower women across all sectors.

Speaking at the gathering, Usoro highlighted the importance of intentional leadership and policy-driven initiatives in advancing women’s roles within institutions. She called for sustained efforts to break barriers, promote inclusivity, and create opportunities for women to thrive in leadership positions.

The celebration brought together stakeholders from across the financial sector and beyond, providing a platform to reflect on achievements, address ongoing challenges, and reaffirm commitments to gender equity.

Participants also underscored the role of institutions like the CBN in driving inclusive growth and fostering an environment where women can contribute meaningfully to national development.

The event concluded with a renewed call for action, urging organisations and individuals alike to champion policies and practices that support women’s advancement and leadership in Nigeria.
