Military Air Strikes Eliminate 32 Terrorists, Destroy ISWAP Logistics Network in Lake Chad
Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria | April 23, 2026
Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai have carried out coordinated air strikes that eliminated over 30 terrorists and dismantled logistics networks belonging to the Islamic State West Africa Province along the Lake Chad waterways.
The operation, conducted on the night of April 21–22, 2026, targeted terrorist activities around the Kaniram Island axis in Northern Borno State. According to a statement by Sani Uba, Media Information Officer at the Headquarters of Operation Hadin Kai, the strikes were executed based on credible intelligence.
Air surveillance assets reportedly confirmed the presence of more than 30 terrorist boats and fighters coordinating resupply operations in the area. In line with established Rules of Engagement, the military launched precision strikes that destroyed multiple boats and disrupted a major logistics hub used by the insurgents.
The operation significantly reduced the mobility and operational capacity of the террорист group, limiting their ability to sustain activities within the region. Real-time Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) further enabled follow-up strikes on fleeing and regrouping elements within nearby vegetation, leading to the neutralisation of additional террорист operatives.
In a related development, similar precision-guided air strikes were conducted at Sowolwolo in the Sambisa Forest axis. The strikes, carried out in collaboration with operational partners, destroyed three террорист gun trucks and neutralised several fighters in the vicinity.
Battle Damage Assessment supported by post-strike intelligence confirmed substantial losses on the part of the террорист group, with reports indicating mass burial activities by ISWAP elements, particularly around the Mallam Fatori axis.
Ground troops are currently advancing to consolidate the gains of the air operations, with efforts focused on dominating surrounding areas and preventing any regrouping or reconstitution by fleeing террорист elements.
The successful strikes underscore the continued efforts of the Nigerian military to degrade insurgent capabilities and restore stability across the North-East region.
