First Lady, Health Minister Attend Inauguration of National Community Food Bank Programme in Maiduguri

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, alongside the Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate, attended the inauguration of the National Community Food Bank Programme in Maiduguri.

The event took place at the Shuwari Primary Health Centre, which hosts one of the Food Bank facilities aimed at supporting vulnerable communities with improved access to nutrition and essential food supplies.

During the inauguration, the First Lady and the Health Minister interacted with beneficiaries, including nursing mothers, highlighting the programme’s focus on maternal and child welfare.

The initiative is part of broader efforts by the Federal Government to address food insecurity, strengthen community support systems, and improve public health outcomes, particularly in underserved areas.

Officials emphasized that the programme will play a critical role in delivering targeted food assistance while complementing existing healthcare services at primary health centres across the country.
