Abubakar Malami, former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of inflating the value of his assets in a bid to mislead the court and obtain an interim forfeiture order.
Malami described the action as a “manifest exaggeration,” alleging that the anti-graft agency deliberately misrepresented the valuation of properties linked to him in court filings.
According to him, the discrepancies in the asset valuations raise serious concerns about due process and the integrity of the proceedings, insisting that the claims presented by the EFCC do not reflect the true worth of the properties in question.
The former AGF maintained that he would challenge the allegations through legal means, expressing confidence that the court would ensure fairness and justice in the matter.
The EFCC has yet to publicly respond to the claims, as the case continues to generate attention over issues relating to asset recovery and legal procedures in anti-corruption efforts.
