Abuja, Nigeria, Wednesday, April 29, 2026

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has stated that the Commission not only focuses on investigating and prosecuting fraudsters but also recognises and commends Nigerians who uphold integrity and anti-corruption values.

He made this known in Abuja during the Business Grant Award Ceremony organised by the Jerry Eze Foundation, where he emphasized the importance of ethical conduct and nation-building through integrity-driven actions.

Olukoyede noted that the EFCC had previously conducted a six-month investigation into Pastor Jerry Eze, Founder of Streams of Joy International, over allegations of money laundering and found no evidence of financial misconduct. He explained that the Commission duly commended the cleric following the conclusion of the investigation.

He cautioned religious leaders and public figures against any form of corrupt practices, stressing that integrity must remain a core value across all sectors of society.

Highlighting the impact of the Jerry Eze Foundation’s support for 240 small-scale business owners with $3,000 grants each, the EFCC boss described the initiative as a meaningful contribution to economic empowerment and national development.

Olukoyede also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the release of ₦100 billion from the EFCC Recovery Account to support the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation as seed capital for their operations.

He further disclosed ongoing plans to establish a Cyber Crime Research Centre aimed at empowering young Nigerians in information technology and redirecting their skills towards productive and socially beneficial purposes.

The EFCC Chairman reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to balancing enforcement with recognition of integrity, while promoting transparency, accountability, and youth empowerment across the country.
