The Nigeria Police Force has announced disciplinary actions following the fatal shooting incident that occurred on April 26, 2026, in Effurun, Delta State, which led to the death of Mr. Mene Ogidi.
According to the Force, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, immediately ordered the withdrawal of all officers involved from the Delta State Command to Force Headquarters in Abuja for expedited disciplinary proceedings.
The Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC), alongside other internal mechanisms, concluded its review and found that the principal officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nuhu Usman, acted in clear violation of Force Order 237 and other regulations governing the use of firearms.

Upon completion of administrative procedures, the affected officers are expected to be handed over to relevant authorities for prosecution.
The Police leadership reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on extrajudicial killings and abuse of power, stressing that no officer has the authority to take life outside the provisions of the law.
The Inspector-General also extended condolences to the family of the deceased, Mr. Mene Ogidi, assuring that the Force is committed to ensuring justice is served transparently and responsibly.
