NNPC Signs Mou With Chinese Firms To Support Port Harcourt, Warri Refineries
Abuja, Nigeria — May 4, 2026
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with two Chinese firms, Sanjiang Chemical Company Limited and Xinganchen Fuzhou Industrial Park Operation and Management Co Ltd.
The agreement is aimed at fostering collaboration through a potential Technical Equity Partnership to support the completion and efficient operation of the Port Harcourt Refinery and Warri Refinery.
The partnership is expected to enhance operational capacity, improve efficiency, and strengthen Nigeria’s domestic refining capability as part of broader efforts to boost energy security and reduce reliance on imported petroleum products.
NNPC Ltd. noted that the initiative represents a strategic step toward revitalising the country’s refining sector through international collaboration and technical expertise.
