DEFENCE MINISTER URGES UNITY, RECOMMITMENT TO NATIONAL SECURITY

ABUJA, NIGERIA – MAY 28, 2026

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful across the country and members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria as they celebrate Eid el-Kabir.

In a statement issued by the Special Assistant to the Minister on Media, Leah Katung Babatunde, the Minister described Eid el-Kabir as a symbol of supreme sacrifice, unalloyed faith and total obedience to the divine will.
He urged Nigerians to imbibe the values of sacrifice, unity and devotion, stressing that collective commitment and patriotism remain vital to strengthening national cohesion and advancing peace and stability across the country.

The Minister also commended the bravery, resilience and patriotism of officers and men of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, applauding their unwavering dedication in safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity and combating criminality in various theatres of operation.
According to him, the efforts and sacrifices of the military personnel continue to inspire confidence and hope among Nigerians despite prevailing security challenges.
He further called on citizens to continue supporting the Armed Forces and other security agencies through cooperation, credible information sharing and prayers, especially during the festive period.

The Defence Minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to providing the necessary support and resources needed to enhance national security and improve the welfare of military personnel.
He wished all Nigerians a peaceful and joyous Eid el-Kabir celebration and prayed for enduring peace, unity and prosperity in the nation.
