Abuja, Nigeria,May 6, 2026
Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has convicted former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, on a 12-count charge bordering on money laundering involving the sum of N33.8 billion.
The court, however, deferred sentencing until May 13, 2026, following the absence of the former minister in court during proceedings.
Counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, subsequently applied for a bench warrant to ensure the defendant’s appearance in court for sentencing and to prevent any possible attempt to evade justice.
The case forms part of ongoing anti-corruption efforts aimed at strengthening accountability and transparency in public office.
