FRSC DEPLOYS 30,000 PERSONNEL FOR EID EL-KABIR
ABUJA, NIGERIA — MAY 26, 2026
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it has deployed 30,000 personnel nationwide ahead of the 2026 Eid El-Kabir special patrol operations aimed at ensuring safer highways during the festive period.
According to a statement signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, the special operations commenced on May 25 and will run through May 31, 2026.
The FRSC explained that the nationwide patrol is part of efforts to reduce road crashes and improve traffic management as millions of Nigerians travel across the country for the Eid celebrations.
The Corps noted that the special patrol would focus on major traffic offences that contribute to fatal road accidents on Nigerian roads.
These include excessive speed, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overloading, lane indiscipline, use of mobile phones while driving, operation of mechanically deficient vehicles, driving with expired or worn-out tyres, and passenger manifest violations.
The FRSC further stated that officers and marshals deployed for the exercise would monitor strategic highways and ensure strict enforcement of traffic regulations throughout the period.
Motorists were advised to obey traffic rules, avoid reckless driving, and cooperate with FRSC personnel to ensure a safe and hitch-free Eid El-Kabir celebration nationwide.
