NGF Congratulates Ekiti Governor Oyebanji on Re-Election Victory

The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on his victory in the recently concluded governorship election, describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of his leadership and development agenda.

In a congratulatory message dated June 21, 2026, and signed by the Director of Media and Strategic Communication, Yunusa Tanko Yakasai, AbdulRazaq said the overwhelming mandate secured by Governor Oyebanji reflected the confidence and trust the people of Ekiti State have in his administration.

The NGF Chairman noted that the governor’s re-election was a testament to the goodwill he had earned through what he described as dedicated service, impactful governance, and commitment to the welfare of the people.

According to the statement, the election result demonstrates widespread public approval of the policies and programmes implemented during Oyebanji’s first term in office.

“Governor Oyebanji’s victory is a strong affirmation of the trust and confidence that the people of Ekiti State have reposed in his leadership and developmental vision,” the statement said.

AbdulRazaq expressed confidence that the Ekiti governor would build on the achievements recorded during his first tenure by deepening ongoing reforms and implementing policies aimed at promoting economic growth, social inclusion, and improved living standards for residents.

He also stated that the governor’s renewed mandate presents another opportunity to accelerate development initiatives and strengthen governance structures across the state.

The NGF Chairman commended the people of Ekiti State for their participation in the democratic process and for conducting themselves peacefully during the election.

Political observers have described the Ekiti governorship election as one of the significant electoral contests ahead of Nigeria’s broader election cycle, with stakeholders closely monitoring its implications for governance and political stability.

Governor Oyebanji’s first term has been associated with programmes focused on infrastructure development, agriculture, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and rural development.

As he prepares for a second term in office, expectations remain high among residents and stakeholders for the consolidation of existing projects and the implementation of new initiatives aimed at advancing the state’s development objectives.

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum, which serves as a platform for collaboration among the country’s state governors, has consistently advocated policies that promote good governance, economic development, and improved service delivery across the federation.

With the election concluded, attention is expected to shift toward governance, policy implementation, and efforts to address key developmental challenges facing Ekiti State in the coming years.
