Abuja, October 6, 2025

President Bola Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to General Lucky Irabor, a retired army officer and former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), as he marks his 60th birthday.
In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the President acknowledged General Irabor’s distinguished tenure as the highest-ranking military officer in Nigeria during a critical period marked by the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East. General Irabor hails from Ika South Local Government Area in Delta State.

President Tinubu highlighted Irabor’s patriotic service and exemplary leadership within the Nigerian military. Describing him as a true war commander and defender of the nation, the President praised his courage and commitment. “General Irabor remains one of the most remarkable soldiers this country has ever produced,” the President remarked.
The statement also commended General Irabor for his recently launched book on Boko Haram, unveiled last Friday in Abuja. According to President Tinubu, the publication is an important contribution that will help Nigeria better understand the Boko Haram crisis and inform efforts to tackle this and other security challenges facing the nation.

At the book launch, General Irabor emphasized that the work was intended for national soul-searching and not to indict any individual.
President Tinubu concluded by wishing General Irabor many more years of good health and continued invaluable service to Nigeria.
