PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU SWEARS IN INEC CHAIRMAN; TASKS AMUPITAN TO PROTECT AND IMPROVE ON ELECTORAL INTEGRITY

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sworn in the newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, with a strong charge to safeguard and enhance the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral process.
The brief but significant ceremony took place at the State House in Abuja, shortly before the commencement of the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting on Thursday.
President Tinubu, in his remarks, emphasized that the credibility of elections remains central to the stability and progress of Nigeria’s democracy. He urged Professor Amupitan to build upon the achievements of his predecessors while introducing reforms that will further strengthen public confidence in the electoral system.
According to the President, the task before the new INEC leadership is not only to conduct free, fair, and transparent elections but also to deepen democratic values and ensure that the will of the people continues to prevail in all electoral outcomes.
State House Correspondent Musbau Dan-Wahab reports that the swearing-in ceremony was witnessed by top government officials, members of the Federal Executive Council, and key political figures, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the leadership of Nigeria’s electoral body.
