First Lady Marks World Malaria Day 2026, Calls for Renewed Commitment to Eradication

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for renewed commitment and collective action in the fight against malaria as the world marks World Malaria Day 2026.
In her message to commemorate the day, the First Lady emphasized the need for sustained awareness, prevention, and treatment efforts to curb the spread of the disease, which continues to pose a significant public health challenge in Nigeria and across Africa.
She highlighted the importance of using insecticide-treated mosquito nets, maintaining clean environments, and ensuring early diagnosis and prompt treatment as key measures in reducing malaria-related deaths.
The First Lady also urged stakeholders, including government agencies, healthcare providers, development partners, and communities, to intensify collaboration in tackling malaria and improving access to healthcare services.
She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at eliminating malaria and improving the well-being of Nigerians, particularly women and children who are most vulnerable to the disease.
