Lagos Signs Power Purchase Agreements to Strengthen Energy Supply to State Assets
Lagos, Nigeria,Sunday, April 26, 2026
The Lagos State Government has witnessed the official signing of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with key energy partners as part of efforts to enhance electricity supply to critical state assets.
The agreements were signed with Mainland Power Limited, Fenchurch Power Limited, and Viathan Engineering Limited, marking a renewed commitment to ensuring stable and reliable power across strategic infrastructure in the state.
The renewed arrangements reinforce a decade-long partnership and are expected to guarantee consistent energy supply over the next 10 years, supporting essential public services and infrastructure.
A major highlight of the agreements is the rehabilitation and upgrade of the Akute Independent Power Plant through a concession arrangement. The plant, which had been inactive for several years, is being revived to restore electricity to surrounding communities and support the expanded Adiyan Water Works project.
Similarly, the Mainland Power Plant in Ikeja will continue to provide electricity to key public institutions, including major healthcare facilities and strategic substations, under the renewed agreement.
On the Island corridor, power projects supported by Viathan Engineering will sustain dedicated electricity supply to critical government facilities, healthcare institutions, and commercial hubs, further strengthening the state’s power infrastructure.
The Lagos State Government noted that the agreements align with its broader vision to improve energy reliability, drive economic growth, and enhance the delivery of public services across the state.
