The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has initiated plans to establish a new campus of the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC) in Ogun State, alongside efforts to upgrade and secure accreditation for 42 Police Colleges across the country.
The development was discussed during a high-level strategic meeting held at the Federal Ministry of Education Nigeria, hosted by the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Suwaiba Said Ahmad.
Also in attendance was former IGP Kayode Egbetokun and other key stakeholders, underscoring the national importance of the proposed reforms in police education.
Discussions focused on infrastructure development and collaboration with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to support the construction of modern facilities. Stakeholders also engaged with the National Universities Commission (NUC) to ensure proper resource verification and compliance with accreditation standards.
A timeline was outlined for the Ogun State campus to become fully operational in the 2026 academic session.
IGP Disu reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to professional excellence, stressing that strengthening training institutions is critical to building a modern, service-oriented police force.
He noted that combining academic rigor with operational training would better equip officers to address evolving security challenges with professionalism and integrity.
