ABUJA, NIGERIA – MAY 26, 2026
The Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma Sector 1 has carried out a series of precision air strikes that eliminated several terrorists across Rafi and Mariga Local Government Areas of Niger State, disrupting planned attacks and weakening the operational capacity of the criminal elements.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
According to the statement, the operation followed credible intelligence on the movement and gathering of terrorists around Tungan Bako and Kasuwan Daji in Rafi Local Government Area. Acting on the intelligence, the Air Component, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Space Command Regiment, conducted precision air interdiction strikes that successfully neutralised several terrorists and disrupted their operational build-up in the area.
The statement further explained that terrorists moving on motorcycles and on foot with rustled cattle from Tungunguna towards Uregi were also positively identified and engaged. The strikes reportedly led to the elimination of the fleeing terrorists and hindered their movement and withdrawal capability.
In another coordinated operation, terrorist elements attempting tactical movement within Dogon Dawa and adjoining communities in Mariga Local Government Area were swiftly targeted with precision strikes. The operation resulted in the elimination of a significant number of the terrorists and thwarted planned attacks within the affected communities.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Aneke, commended the professionalism and precision displayed by the personnel involved in the operations.
He assured Nigerians that the Nigerian Air Force would continue to sustain aggressive, intelligence-driven air operations aimed at eliminating terrorist threats, protecting innocent lives, and restoring lasting peace across troubled regions of the country.
