ABUJA, NIGERIA – MAY 26, 2026
The Federal Government has commenced the prosecution of social media influencer, Chidiebere Mark, popularly known as “Justice Crack”, by calling its first witness in the ongoing trial over allegations of inciting members of the armed forces against constituted authority.
Mark was initially arraigned on May 4 by the Department of State Services (DSS) on a three-count charge bordering on alleged incitement and actions considered prejudicial to national security.
At the resumed hearing before the Federal High Court in Abuja, the prosecution presented its first witness as part of efforts to establish the government’s case against the defendant.
The witness, whose identity was not immediately disclosed in open court, reportedly testified on the circumstances surrounding the investigation and arrest of the social media influencer.
According to the prosecution, the charges against Mark stem from content allegedly shared on his social media platforms, which authorities claim could incite military personnel and undermine national security.
Counsel to the Federal Government urged the court to admit certain materials and evidence linked to the defendant as part of the prosecution’s case.
However, the defence team challenged parts of the submissions and maintained that the accused is innocent of the allegations levelled against him.
The trial judge subsequently adjourned the matter to a later date for continuation of hearing.
