Dangote Refinery Reduces Diesel Gantry Price By N200 As Importers Receive New Shipments
LAGOS, NIGERIA – MAY 28, 2026
Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has reduced its gantry price of diesel by N200 per litre as fuel importers begin to receive fresh shipments into the country.
The refinery cut the price of diesel from N1,800 per litre to N1,600 per litre on Wednesday, according to Platts, an independent provider of information and benchmark prices for the commodities and energy markets.
The latest reduction is expected to ease pressure on the domestic diesel market and could lead to lower prices for consumers and businesses that rely heavily on the product for transportation and power generation.
Industry observers say the development also reflects increasing competition in the downstream petroleum sector as marketers continue to import refined petroleum products to complement local supply.
The arrival of new imported diesel cargoes is believed to have contributed to the price adjustment, with market forces influencing pricing decisions among suppliers.
The move by the Dangote refinery is seen as part of ongoing efforts to stabilise petroleum product prices and strengthen local refining capacity in Nigeria.
Stakeholders in the energy sector have continued to monitor the impact of local refining and import activities on fuel availability and pricing across the country.
