Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Gwabin Musa, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to strengthening regional security cooperation to combat terrorism and stabilise the Lake Chad Basin.
He made this known during the just concluded meeting of Defence Ministers of Troops Contributing Countries to the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), held under the Lake Chad Basin Commission in N’Djamena, Republic of Chad.
The meeting brought together defence ministers and representatives from member states, including Nigeria, Chad, and Cameroon, to review ongoing military operations and enhance joint strategies against terrorism and cross-border threats.
Minister Musa emphasised the need for sustained synergy, intelligence sharing, and coordinated operations among member nations to effectively degrade terrorist networks and ensure lasting peace in the region.
He noted that collective efforts through the MNJTF remain critical in addressing evolving security challenges and restoring stability across the Lake Chad Basin.
