TROOPS RESCUE KIDNAPPED VICTIM, RECOVER RANSOM IN PLATEAU

Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE deployed in Sector 9, Shendam, Plateau State, have successfully rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered the sum of ₦8 million ransom earlier paid by the victim’s family.

According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the rescue operation was launched following the abduction of a female victim from the Bauna area of Shendam Local Government Area on April 19, 2026.

Captain Oteh disclosed that through diligent intelligence gathering and the interrogation of an arrested suspect who confessed to the crime, troops were able to trace the victim’s location to Padam Forest in Quanpan Local Government Area.
The troops swiftly conducted an operation in the area, leading to the successful rescue of the victim without harm.

He further confirmed that the ₦8 million ransom recovered during the operation has been returned to the victim’s family.
The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining ongoing operations aimed at combating criminal activities and ensuring the safety of residents across Plateau State.
