Troops Repel Suspected IPOB Terrorists’ Attack on Police Station in Ebonyi

In a swift and decisive response, troops of the Nigerian Army, deployed for counter-terrorism operations in Ebonyi State, have successfully repelled an attack on the Isheke Police Station by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The attack, which occurred early today, resulted in the torching of the police facility and several vehicles.

Upon arrival at the scene, the troops launched a counter-attack, overpowering the assailants and forcing them to flee. The ensuing hot pursuit led to an intense gun battle, which resulted in the elimination of five suspected terrorists. Several weapons were seized during the operation.

The recovered arsenal includes one PKT machine gun with a link belt containing 94 rounds of ammunition, two AK-47 rifles with three magazines containing 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, one submachine gun with a magazine, and a Sienna SUV with the registration number Ebonyi CHR-364JC.

The Nigerian Army has reiterated its commitment to operating in synergy with sister services and other security agencies to combat the terrorist activities of IPOB and its armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network (ESN). The Army urges all law-abiding citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or activities to security agencies.

This coordinated effort underscores the Nigerian Army’s determination to restore peace and stability in the region while safeguarding the lives and properties of its citizens.
