The Federal Government of Nigeria has taken a significant step in expanding international job opportunities for its youth, as 39 skilled artisans from Benue State embark on a work assignment in Belarus. This move is part of the government’s ongoing International Job Placement Programme aimed at enhancing employment prospects for Nigerian youths abroad.
Joseph Ortsen reports that during a send-off ceremony, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, encouraged the artisans to uphold the dignity of Nigeria while working overseas. She emphasized the importance of being exemplary ambassadors of the country, stressing that their conduct would shape future opportunities for other Nigerians.
The deployment to Belarus represents a strategic partnership between Nigeria and Belarus, designed to foster skills exchange and economic collaboration. This initiative not only addresses unemployment challenges at home but also positions Nigerian artisans to gain valuable international experience.
As the 39 artisans commence their assignments, the Federal Government remains committed to expanding such programmes, creating pathways for young Nigerians to thrive on the global stage.
