GOVERNOR RADDA APPLAUDS NIGERIAN ARMY’S EFFORTS IN CURTAILING SECURITY CHALLENGES

Abuja, Nigeria – October 8, 2025

The Executive Governor of Katsina State, His Excellency Mallam Umar Dikko Radda, has commended the Nigerian Army for its unwavering efforts and sacrifices in addressing the security challenges facing Katsina State and the country at large. The commendation was made today, Wednesday, October 8, 2025, during a courtesy visit to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), kqpLieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.
Governor Radda expressed his appreciation for the professionalism and commitment of the troops deployed in Katsina State, noting that their tireless efforts have led to notable improvements in the security situation. He attributed the progress made in tackling insecurity to the courage, resilience, and sacrifice of the Nigerian Army personnel operating in the region.
“I as stability in Katsina State. The achievements recorded so far would not have been possible without the dedication and selflessness of your troops,” Governor Radda stated.


He also commended General Oluyede for his recent visit to Katsina State, during which he interacted with and boosted the morale of troops on the ground. The Governor highlighted the importance of leadership engagement with frontline forces and pledged the continued support of the Katsina State Government.
In a bid to further strengthen security architecture in the state, Governor Radda announced plans to collaborate with the Nigerian Army in establishing an additional military unit. He underscored the strong synergy between the Katsina Watch Corps and the Nigerian Army, as well as the existing cooperation with the 17 Brigade, which he described as critical in the ongoing fight against insecurity.


In his response, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, thanked Governor Radda for the visit and the recognition of the Army’s efforts. He assured the Governor that the Nigerian Army remains fully committed to securing Katsina State and all parts of Nigeria.
“The Nigerian Army under my leadership will continue to make the necessary sacrifices to safeguard lives, protect communities, and create an enabling environment for peace and economic growth,” General Oluyede said.
He also acknowledged the unwavering support of the Katsina State Government and the good people of the state, describing it as a vital factor in the success of military operations. He urged that such collaboration be sustained to ensure long-term peace and development.


The meeting reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen civil-military cooperation and enhance joint strategies in tackling insecurity across the country.
