Ibi, Taraba State — October 15, 2025
In a sustained effort to eliminate terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements in Taraba State, troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have scored significant successes during ongoing clearance operations dubbed “OPERATION LAFIYA NAKOWA.”
On October 14, 2025, soldiers deployed in Tapga Ngasawa village within Dampar District of Ibi Local Government Area acted on credible intelligence about terrorist hideouts around Badekoshi, Fajul, Kurmi, and Dampar villages. Moving swiftly, the troops launched a series of clearance operations targeting these areas.
At Badekoshi, the troops encountered terrorists who, overwhelmed by superior firepower, retreated towards Fajul village near the forest. The military pursuit forced the criminals to abandon their positions and flee further into the dense forest, evading capture.
Following a meticulous search of the abandoned hideouts, troops recovered the following items:
One (1) AK-47 rifle
One (1) AK-47 magazine
One (1) round of 7.62mm special ammunition
Five (5) rounds of blank ammunition
Two (2) fragmental jackets
Two (2) military camouflage uniforms
One (1) Jincheng motorcycle, suspected to have been stolen during a prior attack at Tapga village
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade NA/Sector 3 OPWS, commended the troops for their professionalism, courage, and resilience. He encouraged them to maintain the momentum of operations until all criminal elements are completely eradicated from Taraba State.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and security of law-abiding citizens and emphasized its collaboration with other security agencies and local communities to foster lasting peace in the region.
