Kano, October 24, 2025

The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspected members of an armed bandit syndicate allegedly operating around the Farin Ruwa community in Shanono Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the arrests were made following credible intelligence received from vigilant members of the community. Acting on the tip-off, a joint team comprising operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad and Shanono Division launched a coordinated tactical operation on Friday, October 24, 2025, which led to the successful apprehension of the suspects.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the arrested individuals were collaborating with bandits attempting to infiltrate Kano State through the Shanono axis. The operation is part of ongoing efforts by the police to curb the activities of criminal elements seeking to disrupt peace and security in the region.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication, as well as the local residents for their cooperation and timely information. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property across the state.
CP Bakori further disclosed that a comprehensive investigation has been launched to determine the full scope of the suspects’ operations and connections. He assured that efforts are being intensified to track down other members of the syndicate and bring them to justice.

The Police Commissioner urged residents of Kano State to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies by promptly reporting any suspicious movements or activities within their communities.

“The success of this operation once again demonstrates the power of community policing and timely intelligence sharing. Together, we can keep Kano safe,” CP Bakori stated.
