Lagos, February 12, 2026

Justice C. J. Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of N178,966,938, multiple landed properties, and several vehicles reasonably suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The order was granted on Monday, February 10, 2026, following an application brought before the court in respect of assets traced to Stanley Akaria Chinemerem.
The court held that the funds and properties were reasonably suspected to have been derived from unlawful activities and consequently ordered their permanent forfeiture to the Federal Government.

The forfeited assets include substantial sums of money as well as landed properties and vehicles linked to the suspect. The ruling marks a significant step in ongoing efforts by anti-corruption authorities to recover assets believed to be proceeds of crime.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) reiterated its commitment to pursuing illicit funds and ensuring that proceeds of unlawful activities are recovered in accordance with the law.
