President Tinubu Swears in Tunji Disu as New Inspector General of Police

Abuja, Nigeria – March 6, 2026

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sworn in Tunji Disu as the new Inspector General of Police, marking the beginning of a new leadership chapter for the Nigeria Police Force.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa, where the President charged the new police chief with strengthening national security and deepening public confidence in the country’s policing system.

During the ceremony in Abuja, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emphasised the importance of professionalism, accountability and improved operational efficiency within the police force.

He expressed confidence that the appointment of Tunji Disu would usher in renewed commitment to effective law enforcement, enhanced intelligence-driven policing and stronger collaboration with other security agencies.
